Frequently Asked Questions
What is Trash2Cash?
Trash2Cash is a local discount platform that encourages people to safely remove litter, earn points for approved cleanup submissions, and unlock discounts from participating businesses.
How do I earn points?
Use the Trash2Cash app to submit the required cleanup photos. Eligible submissions are reviewed, and approved submissions add points to your account. A submission may be denied if it is unclear, duplicated, unsafe, manipulated, or does not satisfy the current requirements.
How do I use a discount?
Open the Marketplace, select an available discount, review its point cost and terms, and activate it. Depending on the offer, you may receive a QR code, promotional code, Wallet pass, or an option to use card-linked cashback.
What is card-linked cashback?
Card-linked cashback is an optional feature that allows an eligible discount to be recognized when you pay normally with a card enrolled through our secure card-linking provider. It is designed to avoid receipt uploads and manual promotional-code entry where supported.
Does Trash2Cash store my card number?
No. Card enrollment is handled through Fidel API's secure, tokenized interface. Trash2Cash does not receive or store your complete card number or CVV. We retain only the provider identifier and limited details such as the card network and last four digits.
What transaction information does Trash2Cash receive?
For an enrolled card, Trash2Cash may receive information about purchases at participating locations, including the merchant, location, amount, date and time, authorization or settlement status, refunds, and a tokenized card identifier. We use this information to administer rewards, reconcile merchant funding, support users, and prevent abuse.
Do I need to activate a card-linked offer before paying?
Yes, unless an offer expressly says otherwise. Activate the offer before making the purchase and use the enrolled card at an eligible participating location during the activation period.
Why is my cashback pending?
A card purchase is usually authorized before it fully settles. Trash2Cash may show an estimated reward after authorization, but the reward becomes final only after the transaction clears. The cleared amount may include adjustments such as a tip.
What happens if I receive a refund?
A full or partial refund, reversal, or void may reduce or cancel the related cashback. Trash2Cash may reverse a reward that was already credited when the underlying purchase is refunded.
Will every card purchase be recognized?
Not necessarily. The card and network must be supported, the merchant location must be enrolled, the offer must be active, and the transaction must satisfy the offer terms. Card-network data can occasionally be delayed or unavailable. Contact us if you believe an eligible purchase is missing, but never send your complete card number or CVV.
Can I use Apple Pay or Google Pay?
Wallet payments may work when the card network and card-linking provider can associate the Wallet transaction with your enrolled funding card. Because Wallet tokenization varies, use the enrolled physical card during an initial pilot unless Trash2Cash confirms Wallet support for that card.
How do I unlink my card?
Use the card-management option in the Trash2Cash app or email us. Once processed, unlinking stops future monitoring through the Trash2Cash program. Prior reward and transaction records may be retained when needed for reconciliation, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
Are points cash?
No. Trash2Cash points are promotional units used to activate eligible offers. They are not money, a bank account, or transferable stored value.
Does a restaurant employee need to do anything?
For QR or promotional-code rewards, staff may need to scan or enter the displayed code. A properly configured card-linked reward is recognized from the eligible enrolled-card purchase and is intended to require no special point-of-sale action.
How does Trash2Cash use my location?
With permission, location helps display nearby participating businesses, support submission verification, reduce fraud, and surface relevant active rewards. You can control location permission in your device settings, but some features may stop working.
How can a business join Trash2Cash?
Complete the merchant application. Participating locations and discount terms must be approved and configured before customers can use their offers.
How do I get help?
Email partners@trash2cash.us. Include your account email and a description of the issue. For card-related support, provide only the card network and last four digits, never the complete card number or CVV.
